Amish

Central Illinois is one of the largest Amish settlements in the United States. Many small towns make up the Amish country with Arthur being the heart of the Amish area. Arcola is the gateway, both are interesting and competing in their own ways. While in Arcola we only saw one Amish man, his wife, their children, and their buggy, however, in Arthur amish are the majority. They are peaceful people or at least that was the feeling I got while visiting. Their dress is simple, behaviors kind, looks and education minimum, furthermore, they are business men and women. The beautiful wood furniture the men make and the quilts sewn by hand by women and girls are well made and a cherished heirloom.
Not every Amish remains living the amish lifestyle, for example, the new owner of Yoder's restaurant where Ed and I ate the amazing buffet is now living her life with the "English". Shrimp Boat in Rock Hill, SC has some serious competition with their chicken.
